Wow....thanks for the depressing book. It was...uninspiring and really pushes the envelope of toxic masculinity.

I hated this. I don’t care about farms and it was gruesome and miserable.

The first chapter reminded me greatly of Black Beauty.

Classic Steinbeck, which great insight into people and the complexity of life. Steinbeck's works always feel so real to life, even though there's very little he writes about that intersects with the life I live, and it's because the people he writes feel so real, with real foibles and real insecurities and real desires.
