What a frustrating book. I saw another commentor mention that this book needed either 1) an editor or 2) a better editor, and I could not agree more. There was something so clunky about the story. Every time something worthwhile was about to happen, we suddenly got a POV change and the tension would vanish.

And also, there was no plot. There is no point to this book. Zero. There is no lesson. The characters are superficial and vapid. There is no one to root for. Every new character who is introduced is more annoying than the last. These rich people get their life problems solved magically while they continue to be jerks. And the author keeps trying to make us feel bad for them but it’s impossible!

I guess she wanted to write about a bunch of privileged people and so she did. To sum it up: there was definitely an *attempt* at depth in this book but no actual depth to be found. Very disappointing.

“Didn’t people know millennials only bought things from Instagram ads” An actual (serious) line from the book…

Fun and fluffy- not much in terms of plot but a totally fine read

This was like listening to a reality TV show and I really enjoyed it. I listened to it in only 3 days. The character study of the 3 women in the same generation, but in very different places in this family is really really interesting. Sasha feeling like an outsider, Darly giving up her career for her children, and Georgiana being the “baby” at 26 and trying to navigate the world. Family is hard in the best of situations but the pedestal that this family’s wealth puts them on makes them genuinely complex. It would have been really easy to make a book about the ultra rich being terrible and shallow creatures but these characters were fully fleshed out. The way the author balanced the ridiculousness of the extravagance of their lifestyle while also making them seem real was so impressive. I cared about all of them even though they were elites because they were still people with struggles and insecurities that they couldn’t even share within their own family.
