Wonderful, wonderful, wonderful. As someone who is on a journey of self-healing and looking for mindfulness and peace within myself, this book was just what I needed. The words that the Dalai Lama and the Archbishop spoke and how they were weaved together by Douglas Abrams, touched my heart and the deep core of my soul. There’s so much to learn from these two beautiful souls and I’d recommend this book to absolutely everyone. We need to be more compassionate, care about the well-being of everyone around us, and love generously. We are interconnected, and once we can come together and spend less time focusing on ourselves as separate individuals, only then we will find true joy. 5 stars.

listened while on vacation. Will need to listen again and again so that specific parts sink in. May also need to have the book in order to highlight and then pick up to read at any time. the love and respect that these two men have for each other is a beautiful example of how we all need to be with one another.

This was such a mindful read, to hear from people who are widely known as great spiritual leaders. But what was more was the insight into the hardship they experienced, and that despite that, they had become more stalwart in their dedication toward finding joy through compassion and love. It’s truly a beautiful book.

Pretty much what I expected. My main takeaway is that joy is necessary for personal and community healing, and that it works like the rich claim trickle down economics should. Some useful practices and hopeful stories. A nice set of conversations from two great thinker activists.
