This continues the story of the events that occurred before those in Swordspoint. The foreign chocolate trader Ixkaab (and her girlfriend, Tess)and the young math whiz Micah continued to be my favorites amongst a cast of mostly amoral characters. While Micah is a true innocent, the same can't be said for Ixkaab, but at least I felt like there was honor (protecting her family and people) in what she did. The same can't be said for the nobles and especially the Duchess Tremontaine. I read this for my 2016 Reading Challenge "read a book and its prequel" (PopSugar).
