I found listening to the audiobook to be a lot easier than if I were to read it since it is pretty dry material, but I appreciated the science backed benefits to mindful meditation and found it insightful. It's full of guided mindful meditation practices which having a physical copy would be good to refer back to. It's a book I could see being very useful if you really dedicated yourself to the practices with an open mind.

Taking a mindfulness-based therapy course and this book really helped me with some of the concepts. A little repetitive but useful.

I'm sure I've somehow missed the point of this book, but I found Calming Your Anxious Mind incredibly dull and repetitive. The first 80 pages are a general overview of the ways mindfulness can help people with anxiety disorders, while the remaining 100 pages rehashed that information and included a couple of guided meditations. This might be helpful for people who are new to meditation, I feel like I wasted my time and I didn't learn anything new.

Couldn't concentrate on the book about halfway through. Have already read plenty about mindfulness and this provided nothing new. Too bored to get to the end of the book. Prolly be a good read for someone else

I wasn't sure about this book at the beginning, but by the end I really began to enjoy it. I've read a few different books and things about meditation, and this book did a very nice job of consolidating many common practices into one resource. It also helped me a lot to have the focus on anxiety, rather than just standard meditation and mindfulness - anxiety is something I do struggle with quite a bit in my life. I can see myself using a lot of these practices in my daily life. I'm excited to read some of the other meditation/mindfulness books Brantley recommends.

Does a superb job of explaining the method of mindfulness meditation, how and why it works, how to avoid a number of pitfalls, and how it all applies to anxiety, fear and panic. Mindfulness definitely is an excellent method to help manage anxiety et al.. The number of formal practices at the end of the book are all great and helpful, as is the list of resources. I give it four stars and not five because much of the book was quite repetitive, although I still highly recommend it and would give it to anyone interested in using mindfulness to manage anxiety et al.
