I had very high hopes for this book before picking it up, as the book before was a 5 stars. It’s just another traveling book with a bit of lore. Since i have been in this fandom for almost 5 years, the Power of Three arc has already been spoiled for me, but i still enjoyed reading the arc as a whole. I expected a lot more out of Sol, he was just kind of underwhelming, same with the reveal of Hollyleaf’s death. Felt very rushed. Since i am very much a completionist, i still plan on picking up the next book, and finishing the next arc. Overall this book was a 3.5 stars.

this entire arc is kind of a mess!! like it has a lot of interesting things going on but outcast was such a SLOW book that it really kinda disrupted... everything? and i remember being so ANNOYED when i was younger because it's called the power of three but
the third cat isn't even born until the <i>end</i> of the whole arc!

anyway, i have a lot of different thoughts about this arc after re-reading several years later? for one, it's not nearly as bad as i remembered. yeah, it's still frustrating, but jayfeather wasn't as annoying as i used to think, and hollyleaf was way more interesting than i originally gave her credit for.

i do wish they did <i>more</i> with jayfeather & lionblaze exploring/developing their powers. i mean, an apprentice who is destined to always win? who flies into somewhat of a fury? lionblaze has a handle on his powers <i>way</i> too easily and i wish they'd made it a bit challenging for him instead of him just being like "yeah i am the best and i will always win so i am going to take on this pack of dogs and it will be fine"

overall this arc had good ideas but needed a bit of pruning. i don't think the events in outcast needed their own book & all of the threads in this could have been tied together a bit more nicely.

Honestly, the first half of the book was boring. i just skimmed through it mostly. But once the secret was out, things started rising. Hollyleaf was so stupid, i cannot believe she did that to poor brambleclaw and squirellflight and leafpool.

Wow now THAT is a finale to a series! This last book made that really slow and boring middle book all worth it in the end. We finally got to see some interesting character work with Hollyleaf which is what she deserves and her reaction to all the things in the last two books make so much sense when you reflect on her personality throughout the series. Jayfeather is still a cool guy and I lowkey miss when Lionblaze was in his murderous nightmare phase but don't think that means we don't get to see him on the brink of fighting everyone again.

Woah first Leafpool is their mother than Hollyleaf murdered Ashfur (As she should queen go off) and then she revealed it to all the clans anyway wow that was wild. Also really liked Leapordstar's interest in what Hollyleaf had to say because it makes sense after they kidnapped her for a bit that one time. The twist with what the 'three' in the prophecy meant was good however I'm still sad hollyleaf didn't have any neat little power. OH When Hollyleaf tried to make Leafpool eat the deathberries and die that was craaazzyy and I loved it so much. She was so hellbent on following the code that when she heard she was born not within the code she lost her damn marbles and it was wonderful. Need more women to lose their damn marbles in stories please and thank you.

that was very fun and im finally at a part that i didnt remember from when i was a kid. i do not understand how committing literal murder is fine but being half-clan is not in hollyleaf’s eyes but whatever LOL it was still very fun and shocking (because it didnt make sense but who cares) i did actually remember she died but not that she killed ashfur

This book was pretty darn good, but it doesn’t beat long shadows.
I loved the ending of the book and how the series got an end whilst at the same not getting an end.
It is obviously being continued in Omen of the Stars and I love that they take a story and place it out over 2 different arcs.
I had a hecking lot of fun reading Po3 and I wish I could read OOTS immediately but sadly I do not own it so it will have to wait
