First of all, I would strongly recommend steering well clear of this book if you are in any way inclined towards disordered eating behaviours.

In fairness, I had no intention of doing the challenge, but I picked this up from the library because I avoid sugar and had enjoyed a few recipes from the website. Unfortunately there wasn’t a lot in here that I would use and I would say the majority of the recipes are just suggestions or ideas. Of the actual recipes there are many that just rely on replacing sugar with stevia or rice syrup.

I read this out of curiosity. I eat healthy, but I do think I eat a lot of unintentional sugar (fruit and such). While this book is not vegan and I am not trying the recipes, I did learn a lot during the reading portions and gained a few ideas going forward.

Some pretty interesting views in regards to how sugar affects our bodies. I found a lot of the recipes hippocritical, as it uses different types sugar to mainstream types, so it's not really about quitting sugar, it about reducing one's intake.
I also found a lot of Wilson's statements lacking reasoning, their were references to scientific findings but no references. Wilson also states that she has been researching this stuff for over a decade, but she doesn't have a degree nor any background in scientific fields. So I find it hard accept the word of someone who has no medical background justifying such extreme dietary restrictions through Google search.

Not as much of an in depth plan as I was looking for. Some of the recipes are interesting, but nothing ground breaking.

I very rarely give a two star review. I thought I was all about 'quitting sugar.' But, after thinking long and hard about the entire process and what I want my life to be about and look like in the future, completely giving up sugar, like completely giving up alcohol, is not for me. I was hoping that I could find some good 'lower sugar' recipes, because I do agree that I eat way too much of the addicting white stuff, but the recipes really have to do with completely overhauling your kitchen and working with a more involved kitchen than I am ever willing to do. I don't like cooking now as it is, why would I want to spend more time figuring out new ways to make 'healthy' meals.

I'm glad I read the first few chapters and then skimmed through the recipe parts. All while I was on the treadmill at the gym, if you can believe it. (You should, cause I'm there three days a week.)

Her recipes actually look like things I would enjoy eating! I appreciate that her methods are focused on packing in nutrients and reducing waste-there are no "one and done" strange ingredients here, but ones that are utilized in multiple recipes.

I liked this book and would love to have the willpower to follow it but I know I won't!The book itself is lovely, looks beautiful and most of the recipes don't look too hard to follow but my problem will always be I love chocolate & have no desire to give it up.
Lots of hints ,tips and advice for those with more willpower than me though

I Quit Sugar was very informative for me. There was no preaching and it was presented in a fun and vibrant way that made me want to follow the project. I wish there were more dinner recipes but otherwise it really helped me start out on living a healthier lifestyle. I recommend this book if you are hoping to live healthier by giving up sugar.
