I loved the story and the spells. The romance was both hot and sweet. Looking forward to seeing where these characters go.

This book reminded me how GOOD YA fantasy could be, and was one of the first representations of queer people in fantasy that I remember seeing as a teenager. It holds a special place in my heart.

it's like, this book is probably the only reason im gonna fail in all my exams and ,,,ngl im,, it was so worth it (wasting my time, i mean) (not failing) (nothinf is worth failing) like goddammit [sigh] this is the kind of book people lose their minds over, the kind of book that started my obsession with books in the first place. jfc.

i don't even know where to start? when i started the book first, it reminded me too much (very, very much) of harry potter... which frankly, was very annoying...where is the originality? ...and then it started developing its own plotline and.. holy pancakes on a maccaroni; what the actual hell. i loved it so much,, every page,, every character , i couldn't stop reading it. like literally couldn't. the plot was so [tears all my hair out] ugh, amazing and the characters [looks at baz] [looks at simon] .. [whispers] my children my poor babies my little cinnamon roll, too good, too pure for this world ,,,,tyrannus basilton pitch,,,,,, [cries] [screams] [dies] i love you somuch ososososoos much i want to tattoo your name on my face and paint it on my room walls and scream it to the void u are worthy u are the love of my life u are beautiful. [ugly whale noises]
SIMON!!! there's never been a main character (protagonist?) (antagonist?) like simon snow rip me off a volcano wall i love you i love you so much i love your food eating habits and your obsession with baz and the way you smile i love everyone so much holy avocado ,,,

the mage,,,,,, what do i even do with the mage [insert anger over his name like wtf would you name THE MAGE fishing ""davy""" like why would you even do that why can't you love yourself] like????,,?,???? also he's beautiful but he's so creepy ...andthat only makes me love him more????which is weird but you know *classic hamna* [falls in love with all the freaks] dammit
like
the mage: .....is simon a saviour-type name??
me:
the mage:
me: .....
the mage:
me: YOU'RE NAMED DAVY WHO THE FISH DO YOU THINK YOU ARE JUDGING SIMON???your name is DAVY your kind-of-girlfriend called you dAVY please take a goddamn break and get off your high horse

Was intrigued by the concept and the cover but absolutely hated the writing style. I understand its probably a choice considering it's first person narrated but it feels very much like early 2000s style wattpad fanfiction and nothing seems to happen in it. Not for me
