 What I liked:
The ending emotion was absolutely there. Daniel himself is a very likeable character
The significance of music in the book - a theme that I haven’t really seen before in this type of fiction executed really well
An unromanticised look into concentration camps
Things I didn’t like as much:
Freund and Bronislaw as characters felt too similar to me
Too many background characters that had a similar function
I wish we’d had more time with characters who died cos I think it would have made it even more emotional ( although I understand what the author was going for)

A little too flowery prose for my taste but if you like super descriptive books you’ll like this
Too much telling for my liking - a lot of this book is narration.

a beautiful tale of the making of a violin under extremely painful circumstances. The author has the reader in the palm of her hand from the outset. The strength and endurance of the prisoners of these camps never fail to amaze me

This book just blew my mind.
It was amazing form start to end, and most of all heartbreaking.
This books takes place most of the time during the second world war in concentration camp.
I was really absorbed by Daniel's and the other prisoners fear.

As a musician, an a violonist, this books touch me to the heart, the art and the talent you need to make such a beautiful instrument in those life condition, the courage of all of these people is amazing.

I know it's a fiction, but the writing is so great that it made me doubt it for a second and I had to do my research.

This short and powerfully written book is from a true story of WWII, although it doesn't graphically repeat the horrors of Auschwitz it follows the story of one man Daniel and his ability to survive such cruel times.

Very surface level. I only finished it because it was so short. Would jump setting or time without any warning which was very confusing. I didn't hate it, but it wasn't particularly exciting. Even though it's just over 100 pages, I'd recommend skipping this one. I did like the addition of the real documents at the beginning of each chapter.

Un llibre curt però molt emotiu sobre els camps de concentració però, sobretot, l'amor per la música.

I read this book very quickly which is always a positive, however I found the writing style very difficult to comprehend. I wasn't sure what was going on for the majority of this book but based on the topic of this book and the fact that it was translated into English I'm not going to judge it too harshly. I definitely would like to reread this book some time and really get into it!

Beautiful and powerfully telling story. It a special tribute to the craftmen and musicians who bring us such delight even in the mist of misery and death, that make life that much more precious.
