Surface-level approach to communication and listening basics.
For all that this book is supposed to help with communication, I think I'd end up cutting contact with anyone who used its techniques on me. To use a book example, responding to "Can you try and keep your baby quiet, it's giving me a headache" with "Gives you a headache? Did my baby actually make your head hurt?" would not, in my experience, be a path to constructive communication...

Great book. I continually refer back to it. I like that it starts with advice on being a good listener as part of being a communicator. The conflict management section is also very helpful, including the advice on giving whole messages.
