Two good stories, one on time travel, and another starting serial on colonisation of the outer solar system. The former had a strange choice of both traveller and method of travel. Who knew that the Amtrak would be that versatile?

The colonisation story is the stsrt of a four parter. Earth has stretched out to the planets and planetoids beyond the solar system as we know it, suggesting 70,000 rocks beyond Pluto. With travel between them taking months or years, the lockstep has been invented... humans on these outer worlds hibernate for long periods. How this might affect civilisations is explored with a sci fi typical tale of one man against the system.

Out of all the stories only Ian, George, and George stood out for me. I laughed at Carl Fredrick's Abridge Too Far. But what saved this issue was the inclusion of the serial, Lockstep. The first five chapters has me hooked and what I enjoy most from a serial is the eagerness to pick up the next issue to find out what's next.
