Always enjoy Patterson’s work. Just recently was introduced to his book shots. Let me tell you, if you are looking for quick, fast paced thrill rides. I strongly suggest reading them

Excellent Book Shot

If you need a great, but quick read then this is the book for you. Patterson never disappoints! Always love being able to read a quick book with a great story!

Quick read about illegal mining and human trafficking in South Africa. A bit unbelievable, but a quick intro to the newest Private offices.

Rather simple story. At some point there is a minor twist and slight change of gear, which I can't say much about without providing spoilers. Although it made sense it detracted or at least distracted from the main part of the story that I wanted to continue. The end is somewhat predictable, but its a fun novella. The other bookshot novella in the private series was better.

Meh, it's a light thriller and I was looking for more of a mystery.

I wouldn't normally review a bookshot, but I just couldn't let this one go. WHY would you introduce brand new characters into a book that is essentially 150 pages. We spent so much time introducing the characters that there was no book left for the plot. Which in turn meant that the plot had some serious gaping holes in it. And that isn't even taking into consideration the ridiculous ending.
James Patterson needs to actually start reading these before letting his team of writers release things under his name (because seriously, this guy releases multiple books per month - there's no way he is writing them himself).
A very disappointing read from Patterson in the Private series. Tsk, tsk.

I take it back - 4*

Okay, so I just read Private Royals, which was my first Bookshot book and totally hated it because the plot sucked and I just thought everything about the whole premises of a Bookshot sucked.

Reading Private Gold, I realised I was totally wrong. The plot is incredibly strong and very engaging. I loved that it was a new office in South Africa. I think that was what the issue was with Private Royals. I had previously read two books surrounding Private London and on comparison, it was nowhere near the same level. Whereas with Private Gold, I was able to see the beginnings of a new office. I totally enjoyed it and I loved the characters. Joey and Isobel rock!

Please make this into a full book. Private South Africa just sounds awesome and there's so much depth in there that I can't wait to discover.

Sweet, sweet book.
