I’ve missed this series, so I’m beyond glad Nicole Helm decided to add a Christmas novella to the mix. Vivian and Eli are wonderful together. The perfect story to read while curled up with a cozy blanket and a hot beverage on a cold day.

As with all of the cowboys/military guys who have had their HEAs throughout this series, Eli had a long road to travel. The problem is, he forgot to take the exit ramp when it came up. He keeps going and going. Eli lets his fear of hurting loved ones hold him back. He doesn’t ask those loved ones if the distance he keeps is what they want and/or need. He feels he knows best. Eli doesn’t see the strides he’s taken and is stuck in a rut, spinning his wheels.

In order to get Eli out of his rut, a plan is hatched to change things up a bit at Revival Ranch. Instead of allowing him to do jobs that can be done solo, they throw him into the kitchen with Vivian. Eli figures he can keep his head down, do his job, and get through the next few weeks without incident. He doesn’t count on Vivian’s big heart and eternal optimism to work their magic on him.

Yes, Vivian is a cheery person. Not only in actions, but also in the way she dresses. That doesn’t mean she doesn’t have her own issues. Slowly but surely, Eli sees there is more to her than her surface sparkle. And being seen, and appreciated, is something Vivian didn’t even realize she needed so badly.

I’m really hoping this author continues this series. I would really love to see the other veterans that were in this story get their HEAs.
