a.     Kotzk man of sorrow while Baal Shem Tov man of happiness.
                   i.     Question of whether to purify man to bring him up to God (Kotsk) or bring down the Divine so man can appreciate Him (Baal Shem)
b.     Kierkegaard being a very similar religious thinker. Also sad and depressed and builds this whole theology about cleansing oneself in order to get to God.
c.     Ultimately the similarities between Job and Kotsker. For Kotsk everything becomes about Truth though in stead of theodicy, he’s tortured by the fact that God hides Truth.
                    i.     Concept of maybe Truth hidden is really tzimtzum itself.
ii.     Story of barrels of wine.
