As with most of the books I read, I go in with knowing nothing about it Sometimes I regret that, but this is one book that I do not regret going blind into.

I would give this book a 3.75/5 stars but since I can't do that here, I am rounding it up to 4/5 because the book deserves it. It is a slow burn, enemies to lovers with the two main stars being Talasyn and Alaric. I will say the first third of the book was very slow... almost painstakingly slow. So beware. However, once you get through the build-up of what is happening in this world during the active war part and what happened in the past; it's smooth sailing. I wanted more when it came to the political game that both characters had to play, especially from Talasyn's viewpoint. However, I get that she doesn't play such an active piece in the political game of chess that is happening around since she is so new to the game. She, however, had the most character development occurring throughout the book compared to Alaric. I am also hoping that in the next book, we can see more of who he is as a person and how he will be around his father.

I also really appreciate that this is only going to be a trilogy. I enjoy the world and characters that have been built so far and I don't want it to be overstaying its welcome.

I’m not really a “enemies to lovers” fan, this book did a great job of world building, of a diversity of characters and the wars and plot was really interesting. But they don’t kiss until almost the end of the book! And their thoughts…he thinks I’m ugly, my mom ditched us…it was tedious. Overall I DID like the book though and I’d read the sequel!

Hurricane Wars is a tension-filled page turner of a book. The tension between Talasyn and Alaric is front and center but there is also so much tension between Alaric and his father and Talasyn and her leaders. The need to know what’s going to happen next absolutely drives this story. I loved every single minute of this book and cannot wait for the next installment.

When I first heard a synopsis for this book and the words Rely vibes were mentioned I was immediately sold and I have to say that on this element of the book, it completely delivered. The blurb of this book gives little away in terms of plot so I went into this book with little expectations and on the whole I was pleasantly surprised. I was not expecting how political this book would be and I absolutely loved it. I was instead expecting much more combat scenes which we really didn't get much of at all. My one criticism of this book however, was that during the first part of the book things seemed to happen very conveniently for our main character. It almost felt a little like we were going through the motions just to get our characters where they needed to be for the start of part two so that we could really begin the story. As a result it took me a little while to get into the book however as the political plot developed I found my attention holding. I felt that as we moved towards the end of the book the stakes and the tension between our main characters really started to increase and I am very intrigued to see how this story wraps up in the sequel later this year.
