This was a delightful tale made more enjoyable by being the story of Gabriel St Vincent’s father from Devil in Spring. I love it when authors do generational worlds. But particularly for the St. Vincent men- they have a bleeding heart for peculiar but insistently autonomous women. When you read Sebastian falling in love with Evie, then Gabriel fall for Pandora - you’re like, “aw, like father like son.” Which is why Sebastian knew Pandora would steal Gabriel’s heart before he knew what was happening. Also love how Sebastian comes to life in this story and how he changes. This was a good “hero must be worthy of the heroine” tale. Enjoy!

what ths actual FUCK how is this book so good? WHAT DID SHE LACE THIS BOOK WITH??? I'M CRYING?????

i think i like the dynamics here bc of all the men he seems the most realistic, v determined to not fall in love or have a feeling bc ~trauma~

but when circumstances get dire and he goes along with evie's plan, he gets taken down every peg possible only to discover he... *gasp* DOES have a heart???

INCONCEIVABLE

i cannot believe i read this in 3 hours. dear god. i hope all of Lisa Kleypas's books are this good bc i'm so sold on her now

4.5 Sebastian f#cking St. Vincent stars

I think we can all agree- Sebastian St. Vincent is the reason this book is so loved. Don't get me wrong, Evie is great. But, I mean... it's Sebastian St. Vincent.

I've now read this book multiple times and wanted to re-read it to write a review for it. As a book, I still think [b:Secrets of a Summer Night|114162|Secrets of a Summer Night (Wallflowers, #1)|Lisa Kleypas|https://i.gr-assets.com/images/S/compressed.photo.goodreads.com/books/1298443922l/114162._SY75_.jpg|760678] wins the best Wallflowers series book. Yet this one is (I think) more popular due to the magnetism of the almost irredemable Sebastian St. Vincent. Do I need to keep writing out his full name, you ask? Yeah, I do. It's f#cking Sebastian St. Vincent

Having said that, I do like the story. Evie and Sebastian (St. Vincent) come from different worlds, have completely different temperaments yet they make so much sense. I love how their relationship evolves.

This book is a highlight of the Historical Romance genre. Do yourself a favor and read it, if you already haven't.
