I always enjoy books by J.A. Jance and this one did not disappoint. I like the familiar characters especially Ali Reynolds.

This one was really good! It felt a lot like the first in the series. Excited to read more!

I listened to the audio version of this book and as usual this narrator leaves a lot to be desired. Again, the mispronunciation of Tempe. She also doesn't pronounce "Prescott " like the local she is supposed to be.

Nobody says "V-I-N" for vehicle identification number, it is just "vin". In a previous book she said "Chevy L-U-V" instead of just "Chevy Luv". I don't know for certain that this was the narrator's fault or if Jance actually spelled them out. Either way, it is irritating to be pulled from the story because you are thinking "Really? Who talks like that in real life??".

This was the first book I've read from Jance. I was given this book as a gift and in an effort to clean out my bookshelves I decided to read it. This particular book took me a few days to get into. The story seemed to start too slowly for me, as it first introduced me to all of the major players. About halfway through, the storyline picked up and then I couldn't put it down. I did like that there was an unexpected twist at the end. I think at some point throughout the book, I labeled every character as the murderer. Halfway through, way to keep me on my toes! I may read another Jance novel as it was a decent murder/mystery.

I really need to go back and read the rest of the series like I did with Jance's other series. This one was about a gold-digger ending up dead and a high school kid finder her, and how the two stories intersect. Not a lot of wonderful people in the story, but a fairly realistic lead character.
