The overarching story is straightforward and even relatively common. But the storytelling itself is entrancing. Combining the two you get a story for the ages that is exciting, funny, and mesmerizing all the way through. Interspersing lyrics and dreamscapes with the narrator's frequent perspective shifts *into* our protagonist's head is all very immersive. Though a heart aching tale with plenty of unfortunate relatability, it was a book I couldn't put down and was a joy to read.
