Hmmm... meh. Jack has so many aces up his sleeve yet he seems to always forget about them till the last minute.

I cannot even BELIEVE that cliffhanger. WHAT. I really thought this was end-game, final book in the series - and then that?! What?!?!?
Until that nonsense, this was a 5-star book. Hunter's writing has matured over time, the characterisation continues to deepen, and the pace of this book was frenetic.
But my goodness.
I can never forgive a cliffhanger.

oh come on, a cliffhanger?

I enjoyed it very much! the author dose not fall for normal problem solving you usually see in fantasy books. and the fact the bad guy dose not wait and talk and just try to kill them first hand is cool.

keep on the good work

This is the new book in the series that I reread the rest for so my opinions on this book will be my first impressions and first read through.

It has taken me a long time to process this book and my thoughts. I will get it right out there and say I HATED THE ENDING! I don’t want to include spoilers but I went on a roller coaster at the end being happy that there were actually consequences but then the consequences were like never mind you’re a main character the consequences do not happen to you which really pissed me off. There is an obvious set up for the next book and I am not really looking forward to it (I will still read it but I am not optimistic that I will be happy with it).

The rest of the book I really liked so I can not let the ending really tarnish the rest of the book. I thought things were very cleverly thought through and the planning seems solid but have obvious flaws that are exploited. I really liked seeing the women and children vogthar and the solutions on what that means for the world at large.

I also thought that the ramifications of those who are living in Morshiem and being able to be cured of depression or addiction (once again what are the ramifications of this in the larger world). Also the set up of who Thanatos is and what they are ultimately going to do about him because killing him at this point seems like it shouldn’t happen with his functions and he is doing a lot of good things to keep the world functioning though I know that is the current plan.

I would say I enjoyed the first 90% of this book. I also am looking forward to what a lot of the big revelations will mean for the rest of the series. ( I am slightly apprehensive about if we will actual explore things how I would like because of the ending I do not think we will see a lot of it in the main series. I also do not plan on reading the side-series books).
