This book baited me. I thought it was a Spanish book (located in our Spanish section) and I was going to try to learn a little, but it's mostly English with just a few Spanish words.

One of the best way to teach new things is via rhyme. Having something to prompt you on your information is very useful, and Montes has developed a catch little tune that kids will demand you to read over and over again. The accompanying artwork by Morales is that perfect balance of creepy, making this perfect for Halloween without edging into "Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark" territory.

I can easily see kids learning a good number of Spanish words from this book. A great choice for parents wanting to have a short multilingual lesson, or just a fun book for already multilingual families.

DEFINITELY borrow it from the library and see how your kids like it. I'd imagine many, many of them will ask for it over and over near the end of October.

Perfect for those children who are looking for a slightly creepy possibly a little scary book. Montes uses rhyming text to speak about the creepy monsters and things that may be about on Halloween. Yuyi Morales helps tell the tale with fantastic illustrations that are slightly creepy, but not too frightening for the young readers. There are Spanish words sprinkled throughout, but the text always provides plenty of support for those readers unfamiliar with the vocabulary if the illustrations aren't enough.

Had an Edward Gorey/Tim Burton appeal, plus it incorporates some great Spanish words.
