WOW this was so intense i loved it. i haven’t read any of the previous stuff in hickman’s run, i read this part because it tied into original sin and i was a little lost at times but for the most part i was able to keep up just fine. before i was even done with the first issue of this, i added all of hickman’s avengers to my reading list bc he just did a phenomenal job with this. cannot wait to read the rest of this run.

See also: my last New Avengers review. I'm really enjoying how crazy this has become, and the frantic, kinda sketchy art style that this series has had is back in full force and matches perfectly for the story.

"You're not just a man out of time, Captain... you're an ideology that's extinct."

For all of the issues that creeped up in the last Avengers volume, this installment sharpens the plot to a razor edge and brings into focus all the plot ideas that have been loosely orbiting in and around Hickman's run. As the hammer drops in regards to Steve's memory, and the very inception of this iteration of the Avengers, the ideological points that New Avengers so fumbles with are interrogated deftly here. Volume 6 achieves the much desired balance of a satisfying self-contained plot and forward movement for the overarching narrative. Beyond that, this particular volume has striking art and various interesting renditions of familiar heroes.
