I loved the illustrations and tourist approach to the information. Kids will love the interesting facts as well!

The team of Walliman and Newman have done it again. This time Professor Astro Cat and his companions travel through the solar system - using a cool spaceship and jet packs. The trip begins with a 2-page spread of the entire solar system, then zooms to the sun to get a close-up look. Each of the 8 planets (sorry, Pluto) and the asteroid belt are visited in turn. Nifty details about space probes and the Hubble telescope are also in the text, as well as appearing in the illustrations. Explanations of what causes day and night, or reminders to never look directly at the sun will help budding astronomers. Readers will also learn surprising facts like "Saturn...could float on water!"

This is a title that can hold the interest of very young students with its charming characters and colorful illustrations, while also sparking interest in further study for older students. They may want to know more about the Messenger space probe, or why scientists believe there could be diamonds floating in the center of Uranus. Whatever it is that catches their fancy, Professor Astro Cat is the coolest feline scientist in the solar system.
