Sorry, this was so boring. Would have been more readable with personal anecdotes (which I had assumed there might be from the subtitle) or examples of interesting things that have happened there.

I wasn't sure what to expect with this, given it's an atlas. There were definitely some very cool places shared and so many I didn't know about. The presentation of the photos felt a little too outdated and the writing reads like a history book, but otherwise good for what it is.

I never knew reading an atlas could be so entertaining and inspiring. This is a must read to find cool unique places to put on your travel list. I already made plans to visit at least one of the places listed. Each place listed had some pictures and a few pages dedicated to it in order to fully explain what they were and why they were improbable. So while you won’t get the full background for each place you have enough to know if you’re interested in finding out more and visiting if possible. Though be warned some of the places listed can not be visited for various reasons.

Very interesting collection of odd places that exist in the world. It is a mix of military, abandoned and just quirky locations. The mixture of text and image works well, and the level of detail about the history and current status is well researched. Fun afternoon read.
