This book is an actual story of my life...except I haven't opened my own cupcake shop (yet). It won't be for everyone, but it was by far one of the most perfect books I've ever read for my personality, hopes and dreams.

2.5 ⭐️ Picked this book on a whim. Loved the character development but hated some parts of the storyline. It also felt like it was rushed at the ending and really unrealistic things happened. Other than that, it wasn’t so terrible because I was able to finish it.

I really loved the story of Ansley a not-so-nice debutantee from the south who gets dumped by her fiancee. After crying in her room for weeks she reaches out to her Grandmother she has never met and move in with her in the big city of New York. Between the culture shock and her grandmother's IRS visit, Ansley tries to figure out her life. Her love of baking was obviously passed down and she decides to make a go of it for a career. The book is sprinkled with recipes for cupcakes and made me want to buy this book just so I can bake all the cupcakes.

Very predictable but entertaining. I particularly like the cupcake recipes that were in each chapter.

Cute and well-written, but it tried to do too much. The characters start out rationally enough, and I liked that Ansley was the wicked fiancee. Then....she just grew up overnight. And I didn't understand Patty at all. Or Thad, for that matter.

Spoiled sorority girl who's only goal in life is to get married and have babies gets dumped by fiance. Relocates to New York City and opens bakery. Discovers family secret. Manages to tie up loose ends, be forgiven for being spoiled sorority girl, and makes better life choices.

I liked the plot, but overall the author tried too hard to weave cooking tips into the story. I understand why, but felt like they just didn't fit.
