Baby Under the Christmas Tree by Teresa Carpenter
The book starts out with Elle Austin at Princess camp when she was a little girl and her friend gave her a notepad and told her to write down everything she could hear. All the ideas others were talking about.
That was the start of her career. She helped her dad with his job of athletic director by organizing everything associated with the teams. It got her to be the assistant where she was also the PR liaison for all the sports.
She loves order and lists and hates chaos. Being the deputy director of PR now with hopes to get her own PR firm by 35 and she's on track.
It's 2am and she is at the jail to bail them out. Maxwell-the Beast-Beasley is the leader of the pack. He does good PR and also bad PR.
When she drops Max off at his house a woman is there and hands him the bundle and leaves. It's his child, Troy.
She had NO idea he even had a child. Along with her boss Ray they devised a plan that might work to show Max in a good light so things would go his way when he was awarded full custody of the child.
His ex girlfriend was getting a lot of money and a house so she'd be able to take the child on occasion-when he traveled. She might catch wind of his plan and go to the press to show herself in a good light especially for the hockey team.
He was attracted to her and had even kissed her as they did the chores she had listed-legal dept, clothes shopping and then lunch at Old Town. Love this locale as I've heard it described in other books, fun place to be!

Her family birthday party finds them all together, some tense and some calm moments.
Everybody kept seeing them as Beauty and the Beast. After his ex girlfriend attacks Elle he has to make a decision as to what to do with the situation.
Elle concentrates on the big Gala event to keep her mind off Max and Troy but it's not really working out that way..
Great read with the sex scenes, hot and steamy.

Excellent book. I really liked both Elle and Max. Elle is the youngest in a family with four older brothers. She has been inundated in the sports world all her life. She would really like to find a man who can also appreciate other things in life. When she is called in to help Max with his son, she is very leery. Max is known as The Beast on the ice and is famous for being a commitment phobic loner. She has been unwillingly attracted to him for months, but he doesn't fit her idea of what she wants. As she helps Max with Troy, she begins to see another side of him. She is impressed by his determination to reclaim custody of his son and how good he is with the little boy. As she finds out more about his past she discovers why he seems to keep everyone at a distance, but it only makes her want to get closer to him. I love the way she is able to stand up to him when she's trying to do her job and help him. She is very good at not being intimidated. There is a great scene at a family birthday party when she lays into her brothers for being obnoxious, and another when she faces down Troy's mother. Max was a very interesting guy. He is very intense when he's playing hockey, and very much a private guy off the ice. When we first see him, Elle is bailing him and his teammates out of jail after a fight. It's soon obvious that he is a good influence on the team, even though he doesn't see it. He's a bit lost when he first takes over full time care of Troy. He appears to take great pleasure in making things tough for Elle and playing the bad boy with her. He had been attracted to her for a year, but because of his past feels that he has nothing to offer her. I loved seeing him open up to her in a way he never has with anyone else. There are some great peeks into his past and the things that made him the man he is. I loved the scene with him and Elle's family. I also loved the final scene at the Gala - an absolutely perfect ending.

PR director Elle Austin can tackle any situation, except when it comes to team rebel Max “The Beast” Beasley. When Max runs into custody issues over his son, Elle is forced to get close to the man who drives her crazy. Everything about Max is primal, the chemistry between them sizzles, but his love em and leave him attitude has Elle not wanting to get close. Seeing him with his son though has Elle torn between what her heart wants and what will end up hurting her in the end. Max doesn’t do relationships no matter how badly he wants to try when it comes to Elle, an ex who wants to cause problems and now full time parenthood has Max doing the one thing he hoped he never would, staying away from Elle. With a little Christmas spirit, perhaps everyone can get their holiday wish.
