I usually rate stories individually but these were just consistent that I won't bother this time around. While maybe not as thrilling as the last two sets, Purity Unbound is a fun way to wrap it all up and take the character work to its logical conclusions, with many lovely quips and speeches along the way. This is exactly what Big Finish should be doing with the new boxset format, old Doctors in the new format with new characters and new points of view.

A big congratulations must be extended to Jac Rayner on her producing debut, she has long been my pick for showrunner (I like to imagine a world where the novel series continued on into the Shalka Doctor and beyond, and after Paul Cornell as head writer it was Rayner and Kate Orman...) Going by the interviews she seems to be the most intelligent and delightful human, same with Toby Hadoke who is extremely well-spoken in the interviews for episode 3.

Also features a lovely, unexpected cameo that warmed my little heart!

(P.S. in my previous reviews I rattled on about how the interviews should be on the bonus download section and the episodes should be longer. It's nice to be somewhat vindicated in this with Girl in a Bubble! Now they just need to remove the unnecessary Part 1/Part 2 format for each episode and I'll be set!)

1. girl in a bubble - 5/5

WOW! great start, very conceptual. so many nods to evelyn and just - a fabulous opening story.

2. the corruptions - 4/5

another great addition. another alternate reality, where our faves are all besties in a little village - living the dream tbhhhh. a lovely run of the mill story, realising the truth, thwarting the baddies - and kicking ass.

3. the wrong side of history - 3/5

honestly forgot about the chronomancers. this was okay, but wasn’t my favourite episode. liked that the boxset was left open-ended. and we got to see more of elise and ron! plus, more evelyn mentions!!

4/5
