Incredible. Can't believe this book exists, it's deeply upsetting but illuminating and fascinating as well. Really appreciated how the narrator's perspective shed light on so many of the mishandlings of culture that make things like this more able to happen. For example, the sexualization of young musicians, or the heteronormative ideas that men and women who are married basically hate each other and don't communicate. Most especially that women who are attractive who sleep with younger men aren't predatory and that it is a "win" for the boy. All these things are very normalized in our society but in the context of this book are shown to be as harmful as they really are. Also grateful to this book for illuminating how abuse is about more than just physical power, but a mental hold/arrest of someone's identity and how that is intentional and part of what's being taken. Was disturbed and disgusted often but greatly admired the writing style and subject choices. A really excellent book.
