The story was good, but the pictures should have matched the mood and theme of the story. Great for creative kids who like to build things! I love that the main character of this book was a girl and that she learned to build something.

Recognizes a childhood (or perhaps, a humans-of-all-ages) habit of investing certain places with a special regard. When a young girl’s favorite tree is damaged in a storm, a neighbor helps her envision what the broken branch could become.

Memories.
That is basically what this book is about. Well, yes, this book is about a branch that falls during an ice storm, but it is really about the memory of the branch, what the branch had, and what it would have now that it was not part of the tree.
Thanks to the help of her neighbor, the little girl is able to make something else of the branch, something that can continue to be with her, now that the branch is not part of the tree. I liked that the girl make the swing with the help of her neighbor, but that he didn't do all the work for her.
This is a good way to honor the branch that was.

This was honestly really adorable and I loved the fact that they incorporated art and creativeness in this book. The art style was really unique and new.
The colors were very vibrant and I think it really suits the age range it was made for.

When an ice storm causes her favorite branch to break, a young girl refuses to throw it away. Her neighbor helps her to see the potential of the branch, and helps her transform it into something special.
The art work is wonderful, I want to frame pages 6 and 7, with our heroine sitting on her branch, as "Queen of the Storm!" The story is not overly serious, and has an optimistic "work for what you want" theme. That is quite refreshing and practical.
This is a great addition to any children's book collection, and would make a wonderful gift. I absolutely loved it.

The Branch is a really cute read, recommended for anyone in need of a lighthearted picture book. A story of making something broken into something new is one that always deserves to be told. The illustrations are really cute, and suit the story well. I imagine any children with a special interest in woodwork will get extra enjoyment out of this one.
