I’m loving this series! While I definitely liked the first one more, I feel like this one really set everything up for the third book to go crazy. I occasionally felt that the character development stalled a bit for Serapio, but I loved the storylines for the other characters, particularly Naranpa. I was again taken back by the uniqueness of this story and world and really look forward to finishing it when the next book is out in a few weeks!

I didn't like this one quite as much as the first one, but I still read it in two days. The plot is compelling, and the characters feel more fleshed out and believable. However, the many PoV's make it feel like things move too quickly without actually being able to dig into any of the character's arcs--they felt like pieces on a larger game board, rather than people pushing the plot forward on their own.
