I'm disappointed, because I really wanted to like this book. However, it felt very rambly to me. It felt like a collection of thoughts, not a memoir. I learned a lot about trees, and I love trees, but I was hoping for something more. It was also incredibly depressing. I liked his writing style, so I will still give his other book a try and hope for the best.

Absolutely incredible! I cannot express how deeply and personally I related to Andrew Peterson’s story. Going through similar experiences and thought processes myself, coupled with a shared love of this amazing planet we live on, I just felt every second of the book like they were my own words. Would recommend to all people, especially those struggling with depressive moods or those who love trees and gardens and walking and the earth and Jesus, of course. Andrew Peterson never disappoints, thank you for the sixth absolutely incredible book!

I love a good memoir and The God of the Garden was that and more. Peterson’s writing is poetic and raw. This book was beautiful, ignited my curiosity, and at a few moments felt like balm to my heart. I’m already looking forward to reading it again.

I would say this is one of the best books I've read recently, but I've also recently read The Warden and the Wolf King, so it's a bit of a toss up. Definitely the best memoir I've ever read. I love Peterson's style of writing, his richness and depth, his ability to express emotion and spiritual truth and to relate it all to TREES.
