content warning: although they have come a long way, ben’s anxiety plays a central role in this novella
ben and nathan hold such a special place in my heart. mason, thank you for writing such a cute, short little novella. it reads like a cliché hallmark movie, which was exactly what I was hoping for.
ben has come such a long way since the start of IWYATB, but also since the end of it.
“other people‘s discomfort with who I am is no longer my problem.”
mason deaver has quickly become one of my instant-purchase authors. doesn’t matter what they write, I will buy it. very excited for all future material. <3

This was so cute and such a perfect little holiday novella, it’s short but oh so sweet.
Ben and Nathan are so good together and I love the little glimpse we got of their relationship as it’s a bit more developed, now that they’ve been together for 6 months. Hannah and Thomas continue to be such a gentle, loving place for Ben and readers to land and I love the way Mason is able to show their love of Ben without it feeling too over the top; you are constantly reminded and shown how much they care without it feeling forced. Of course how can we forget about Ryder the most adorable dog, Ryder is the most adorable sidekick throughout the story and I love that we got to see him so much in this novella.
The ending although kinda predictable at times was unbelievably adorable and had me squealing in joy and was just a perfect cozy glimpse back into their lives. I particularly love that Ryder was the one to connect the two when Nathan landed, I think it was such a cute touch and the way Mason wrote about how Ben feeling safe and calm when Nathan was there was just perfect.
The anxiety rep was so spot on, I don’t totally love the way it was phrased when Ben said they wished there was a ‘fix’ for their anxiety although I understand the sentiment especially when you’ve been pushed to your limits like this.

This was such a warm and welcome addition to the book (I Wish You All The Best). It didn't feel forced. Rather, it was a cozy and heartwarming addition to the story for those who wanted to spend just a little more time with the wonderful characters.
