Interesting and thought-provoking, but not for me. Some of the messages don't make a whole lot of sense I my mind. Also I might have been expecting more of Japanese philosophy instead of what it was. I will say though that I might have preferred this if it weren't formatted in the style of a "conversation" which was more of a distraction than anything. Maybe in Japanese it reads in a more natural manner?

me: Oh, a Goodreads recommendation - maybe this book will help me be more comfortable with disappointing others and reduce my tendency to people-please

book: Trauma does not exist, people choose to be unhappy, be useful to others and expect nothing from them in return

me: ...

(the format also made it super annoying to read; the whole book's wisdom isn't terrible but the bad parts were *really* bad and soured my experience)
