Uh oh, things have gotten incredibly serious.

I’m enjoying this arc, as painful as it is! Shredder’s so sick but the art for all the manipulation sequences was really well done. Really captured the twisting of Leo’s mind against himself.

But oof owtchie. Wondering how this will be resolved!

I took 7 quizzes to find out which Ninja Turtle I am.

Results:
Donatello: 4
Leonardo: 1
Raphael: 1
Michelangelo: 1

Well, I guess that's not so bad. I do machines, as we all know from the song, which I still propose we make the new national anthem because why not, and "o'er" is so outdated.

Don't we all want to be Michelangelo, though? Isn't that the person we all want to be?

That's gonna be my resolution for 2023: More Michelangelo.
This is my Year of Yes, but I guess it mostly involves eating pizza, wearing orange, and making the least practical weapons decision possible.

City Fall as an arc promises much and ultimately doesn't quite come through. Shredder attempts to bring the criminal underworld of the city under his thrall. As a story it sets up Shredder as the 'big bad' in the city as he brings the Savate to heel. The main arc though isn't about bringing a city to it's heels, it's more to do with the turning of Leo. I have to be honest I hated the artwork around the turning of Leo, it really did not hang together well. Generally though Santalouco's art is vibrant and exciting. The set up of the story is really good and leads to a triumphant end with Karai, Bebop and Rocksteady entering the fray. The climatic battle is really good too. I think there is a great start here and a great end but just not to much substance in the middle.

The first volume of the City Fall arch is a near flawless graphic novel. Mateus Santolouco comes on board to handle most the art with Kevin Eastman and his style is great. Along with Eastman and Santolouco there are several others adding additional art, including Ben Bates who I was overly harsh on with volume five, and his art contributions are pitch perfect in this volume. The story starts out ominous, brings peril, and leaves with a heart wrenching bridge into the next graphic. I say near flawless only because the fourth issue (where the graphic volume concludes) could have ended with two "cliff hangers" and instead gave mini resolutions to both. That is minor though since the story is great, a lot of set up for the second volume of City Fall but so many small things that are done well in this volume. They take a glimpse into the relationship between Casey Jones and his father (and the one he had with his mother), explore the idea of Old Hob and Slash not being straight bad guys, give us more hints at the romance between Casey and April, as well as giving us a double does of Angel as we learn her background with Casey, as well as a hint of trouble with the Dragons. All in all just a great read.

I enjoyed the Kevin Eastman illustrations, but was not a fan of the rest of the art in this one. Definitely a step down in artists since the last volume.

The story, however, was excellent- very tightly written and dramatic.
