This cookbook looked very authentic, and I'd definitely eat any of these recipes. I loved that there were, like, 5 pages of bannock recipes. But most of the ingredients in this book are pretty inaccessible to me, as far as I know, like: moose, beaver, rabbit, etc. Also not to many pictures, which is disappointing, 'cause the few pictures there are make the food look soooooo tantalizing!
If I ever come across some moose meat, I will refer to this book.

"People from Europe seem to prefer hare to rabbit. I don't know about you, but I've never liked hare in my soup."

The recipes are clear and easy to follow, and the flavour text is funny and builds a nice picture of family and community. So far, I've only tried the Fry-Bread bannock recipe on p. 80 (delicious, I can't believe it never occurred to me to use bacon grease to pan fry biscuits). Still, I've got a lot of other bookmarked pages to try, particularly some of the soups and vegetable sides (there is a baked sweet potato with roasted hazelnuts recipe that looks particularly good).

It is a relatively meat-heavy recipe book (and wild meat at that!), so take that into account when you're considering it, but there's a lot of fun recipes here!
