OMG! This was a very hot, steamy, romantic, beautiful love story. Lolita Lopez is a totally new author to me, and I am HOOKED! I was actually surprised by how much I loved Vicious and Hallie. I connected with Hallie from the start. She is smart, brave, determined, and not at all timid. Vicious was all of that and more tender than I was expecting. Their romance couldn't have been more beautiful! I loved the way that Vicious cared for Hallie from the beginning. You could see his thoughtfulness in the first few chapters, and it only continued to grow. I was swept away with all of it. The story has beautiful world building, wonderful characters (that I can't wait to read more of) and the writing is amazing. I am a fan for life! I was also very pleased to see that there are more books available in this series.

So I thought that this book was going to be pants and boy was I wrong!(Sorry Ms. Lopez) Some of the alien/space romances are so cheesy and there is virtually no plot whatsoever to the book. 4 STARS for this book!!!!

Earth is inhabitable so we traveled out to other planets and built a new life so humans became technologically more advanced and some of them went back to the simpler ways of life. There is an Alliance which is run by the Harcos (super hot, steamy, alpha males) They offer certain planets their protection in exchange for goods. Each year in exchange there is a ritual called The Grabbing, the Harcos warriors get to grab a bride (and I literally mean grab a bride)
The tall hunk of a man Vicious has set his eyes on Hallie. Hallie lives on Calyx and if it wasn't for saving her sister Bernie she would have left for the colonies a long time ago. Hallie ends up in the grab and nearly makes it to the safe zone but is caught in the end.

Surprisingly enough there was a good plot to the story (once again sorry Ms. Lopez I know I am being extremely judgmental)

I really enjoyed this book because I was also going through a book funk. I had tried reading 3 different types of books and I just couldn't get in to them. So we met Menace and Terror in this book. Menace is up next and I really want Terror to get a book as I think he'll be in for a big surprise.

Ms. Lopez character development was good, slow and even paced. I also liked that cross cultural differences were explained and that although there were differences they learnt to compromise. I also liked that the book wasn't solely about sex although the scenes were good. I nearly stopped reading at what happened at General Thorn's party and how humiliated Hallie felt and I was surprised that she is so forgiving.

I actually really enjoyed this one. while there was a lot of emphasis on the sex scenes, there was also a pretty good story line to go along with it. will be interesting when Terror takes a wife;)

Grabbed by Vicious is the start of a new sci-fi erotic romance series by Lolita Lopez called Grabbed.

As a way to negotiate assistance from a more technologically advanced race the people of Hallie's planet agreed to set up a bride grab event in which the warriors are able to have a chance to chase down and "grab" a bride. Hallie finds herself captured in a bride grab by a huge sexy warrior who's name makes her shutter if fear, Vicious.

Vicious is a warrior's warrior he has made his way up to the rank of Colonel in the ground services part of the military for his people. He has always had a thing for busty blonds that is until he lays eyes on Hallie. Once Hallie is his he will do what ever it takes to make her happy and feel safe.

I am a closet geek and love the trend towards sci-fi and erotic romance blending. Ms. Lopez gives us a whole new culture and races to deal with in Grabbed by Vicious. The action and the sex is plentiful as is our alpha male apologizing for everything :O( When it says light BDSM it is only in just a couple of scenes and Vicious is rather soft when it comes to Hallie. I would have liked to see him be a little more alpha and take charge, the culture seems to be set up for that and yet he does a lot of worrying about upsetting Hallie.

Hallie is tougher than she looks and she is smart, loyal and adventurous. I thought that the BDSM could have been used a bit more as Hallie seemed to accept and adjust to everything thrown her way with no worries. We have a secondary storyline that is about changes coming in the way things are handled with the captured brides and a friendship with Vicious's friends and fellow warriors Malice and Terror.

Over all I enjoyed this read, I would rate it between a 3 1/2 and a 4, I will be sure to look for the next in the series as it looks to be promising.

I received a copy of this book in exchange for my honest review.

What a great surprise this book turned out to be. The blurb doesn't really do the story justice.

Vicious does snatch her up at the Bride Grab in her home village, but he is willing to do almost anything to make her happy in her new life. He is willing to bend, to compromise, and to work on their relationship. He doesn't fall in love with her at first sight, but he knows that she is his future and makes changes to help their relationship be a successful one.

Hallie is great character, a liberal trapped in a religious conservative society where many women aren't even allowed to learn how to read. She is one of my favorite heroines in recent memory. She knows that certain actions will have serious consequences, but that doesn’t stop her from doing what she believes is right and standing up for what she believes in. It was so refreshing to read about a real, flawed, imperfect character that wasn’t broken by the tragedy and hardship she had experienced in her life – instead those experiences forged her into a better, stronger person that I just loved.

There were lots of twists that I didn’t see coming, and none felt gimmicky or forced. The secondary characters were top-notch as well, and I look forward to reading stories for Terror, Menace and several other characters that were introduced.

Who Knew...

Equal parts sweet and steamy with a nice sprinkling of danger, this book was definitely satisfying. I thoroughly enjoyed watching Hallie explore her sexuality with Vicious as her ever so delicious teacher. It was great to see how sweet, patient and considerate he turned out to be despite his name.

This was very well written, and the characters were nicely fleshed out. I'd really like to see the so-called committed bachelor Terror get swept off his feet by a woman. I'd love to watch him eat his words (lol).

Overall, a well deserved 5 stars.

Summary: Science fiction erotica with a light BDSM theme (that becomes pretty much non-existent). Some action/adventure thrown in, some violence including brief domestic violence (you have been warned). Lots of sex but all really quite vanilla. Book starts off in a consent grey area but actually gets pretty good at consent and discussion.

Spoiler
Main pairing: Vicious/Hallie
Favourite character: Vicious
Villain(s) various bit part characters

Character rating: 7/10
Plot rating: 4/10
Setting rating: 6/10
Overall rating: 5/10

Pros: Vicious as a character was intense and primal and moody and I ate him up with a spoon. I'm not going to say he was a deep character, but he didn't need to be. This book is basically erotica with a bit of action plot thrown in and it worked.

Cons: The beginning of this book promises a steamy, BDSM flavoured erotica. Which I was completely here for. But actually this ends up being quite vanilla other than a couple of more D/s scenes. I wanted some great M/s dynamic romance but the titles and power exchange were quite quickly expunged from the plot. Which is a shame because Vicious as a character was very primal and dominating! For the vast majority of the "marriage" he kept the playroom that he had equipped ready for his wife locked and unused. It felt like a bait and switch and I spent most of the plot lamenting what could have been for this book. If it had full BDSM or just been vanilla with a little bit of a dominant hero in I would have enjoyed it a lot more.

Do you know how many times the phrase "he stabbed his tongue into her mouth" (or other parts of her anatomy) came up?? It got the point that as the final sex scene of the book started, with only a few pages to go to the end of the book, I took a bet with myself whether or not we'd get one more tongue stabbing for good measure. I almost cried with laughter when I confirmed that yes, tongue stabbing was occurring. Seriously writers, put it through thesaurus.com or something at least?

Back to the beginning of the book. Now, I know the power of the D. Really, I do. Great sex can change your life. But this girl went from being horrified to be this man's kidnapped slave-ish bride to being pretty much completely accepting of her new life and husband over the course of one sex scene. Maybe this guy has a magic appendage? Who knows. I'll have what she's having.

Final opinion: This was an easy read and enjoyable enough, but don't expect miracles. Overall feeling upon reaching the final page is "eh". I feel like the concept was so much greater than the execution and direction of the plot!

Firstly I would like to point out how bullshit it is that I had to *ahem* find other means to download this book. This isn’t available on AU Amazon! What the fucking hell! That’s actually bullshit. I’m so disappointed and a little pissy to be honest. I’m slightly understanding because of the clear issues this writer had with Ellora’s Cave, but I still don’t understand why it’s not available for me to purchase in my country two years after publication….

Moving on. I won’t be reading any more of these until another book is published (if that happens) because I don’t want to get more invested in what was actually not a bad concept, and loving even more characters than I already did, because I just don’t think I’ll be able to handle it if I do and nothing happens from here.

Basically, this town Hallie lives in has signed a treaty with Vicious’ people and they have a ‘grabbing’ event where the women have to sign up to be taken as these peoples sex slaves kind of… It’s hard to explain really, but these alien warriors are all dominant and stuff and highly into BDSM, some more than others. There was even some very different stuff like making their women dress up and act like cats, which made me a little squeamish but I enjoyed the difference in sexual tastes that it showed. Usually these books are all the same and don’t show many different ideas of fetishes, but this went into some stuff that made the experience individual and for that I’m thankful. Hopefully this series does continue, because I did enjoy this book, just maybe not so much the writing style or the main female character to be honest. But that was personal. I also took stars off for the price, because that’s ridiculous, especially for AmazonUS when it’s the cheapest! (Stars taken off for not being on AmazonAU, the cover, and dislike of Hallie, also that it was very, very fast paced and a lot of drama)

There were both things I liked and things I disliked.
Im doing the middle ground here giving it a really weak 3 star rating.
Both main characters were a bit boring, but Terror intrigued me.
