wow, I was not expecting that ending. i really enjoyed this book, i while i didn't agree with everything that was talked about, the family drama was to live for. I absolutely loved the setting. something about books taking place on Martha's Vineyard is just great. ik some people that love this book and hate this book so to each their own, but i'm right in the middle :)

We Were Liars was a great written book. When I first opened the book I didn't know what to expect, to be honest. I thought this would be something like a mystery, maybe. But I know for sure that II wouldn't have anticipated this.

This book was something out of the ordinary. One of the main things that compelled me and made me love this book more than ever was the fact that it sucked you in the book. It brought you to the scene of the crime. Also the fact that it lead you up to events that surprised you but not as much as the final blow.

The characters had great development, or Cadence at least.

The final twist was an unexpected one but I sure enjoyed it.

I'm still not sure what exactly happened in the end.

This book is one of those ones that when you read it the second, third, etc. time, the perspective changes and you fully understand the book.

I fully recommend this book to anyone who likes to read.

4.5 - Although this book is very short in length, it manages to pack a lot of detail and emotion into the small number of pages. The whole way through the book, I was never able to guess what was the true cause of Cady's amnesia, nor the other shocking reveals at the end. When it is finally revealed, everything snaps into place perfectly and made me wonder how I hadn't seen it before. I would have to say that one of my favorites elements of this book is how the first and last parts of the book are the same. This mirror isn't revealed until the end, and yet it is so much clearer and shows so much more than it has in the beginning. It was such a perfect ending, as I had forgotten about the first paragraph of the book, but when I read the ending I realized what Lockhart had done and I really like the way she did it. The writing style is very unique in this book as well, as she uses a lot of short, choppy sentences and many parallel sentences, but it never seems to affect the way the book reads, nor make it difficult to understand.

God I wanted to like this. I did like some parts but ultimately couldn't get past the constant super casual ableism and racism (In a book that seemed to think it was progressive?)

...and okay not to be snarky but the "plot twist" (that everyone raves about and I kept reading SOLELY FOR) is so ridiculous I actually thought of it early on, and dismissed it because NO WAY, WE'RE NOT DOING THAT... oh my God yes we are.

I have.. So much to say and none of it really nice so I'm going to bed instead. Much more productive.

imma give this a 3.75/4 rating, the ending really made it for me, the first 75% of the book had some real good and interesting stuff and some stuff i just wasn’t jiving with… but the ending kinda fixes it— ish
