Meh characters and mystery. I loved the series but the last few books have just been boring mysteries that we can see a mile away and introducing new characters whom I don’t want to read about.

I have strong opinions about sex work, and how it can be made safer. All that aside, I really have to say that I didn't like Scotty until almost the end of the book. The villain was obvious, but the way the author made that work was fascinating. It was a fun read, and I enjoyed Beth standing up for herself.

That Scotty!! How do you know someone is your lifemate for 150 years and NOT take the chance!! He's got more issues than Beth does and she's the one with the traumatic past!! I love how this is a much different take on the series and the mystery in this was good :)

*I received this book from Edelweiss in exchange for an honest review*
At times this book was a little hard to follow considering it is #26 in this series, and I haven’t read any of the others. That being said, I actually really enjoyed it and I wouldn’t say you HAVE to read the previous books in order to enjoy Beth and Scotty’s romance.

I feel like this is a pretty typical romance, and I liked it. It’s perfect for just a light read, I definitely was invested in the characters and wanted them to get their happy ending. I was surprised that Scotty turned out to be such a jerk for most of the book. I get he’s like 900 years old, but he was 100% a misogynist at the beginning. It’s actually why I liked Beth so much because although she recognized that he could be her mate, she wasn’t willing to just let him change everything about her. She liked who she was even if that meant she had gone through some pretty horrible stuff.

Overall I’d give it 3 out of 5 stars.

For over 100 years Beth has had the hots for Scotty but she has always assumed he wanted nothing to do with her. No matter how many hot dreams she has about him, his attitude when they are together sends her running in the other direction. When they begin a new assignment working together their conversations become more in-depth and the feelings they've both been hiding come crashing to the forefront. Scotty has suspected that Beth was his lifemate but he knows she began her life as an immortal in such a traumatizing way that he wanted to give her time to adjust but maybe over 100 years was a little too long for her. When an unknown threat begins stalking Beth, Scotty is ready to put everything on the line to protect the woman he loves. I always enjoy this series, there's great humor and connections between the characters. Fun read!

I loved this, this was a refreshing new take on the argeneau books. This book focuses on Beth and Scotty. Beth is an independent woman who has had a tough life and since being turned has been learning to navigate life as an immortal, she has some great characteristics and is really likeable. Scotty has known for a while that Beth is his life mate, but has been waiting for the right time to claim her, he is definitely an alpha to the core. With a stellar dialogue between the two, and a few favourite characters from previous stories, this book delivers an enjoyable read that was a page turner from start to finish. I loved the twists and turns and how it all came together at the end and it supplied plenty of surprises that I didn't see coming.

I felt as if the characters were rambling a little bit. In their dialogues and even the thought process. Not one of my favorites, although I will still read anything of Lynsay Sand ' books.
