Looove Okorafor’s work. She manages to connect you to the main character (whom at least I have absolutely nothing in common with) and expose the same longing for identity and acceptance in myself; all the while spinning a gorgeous world behind my eyes that I swear I almost know the smell of otjize myself.

I continue to be enamored with Nnedi Okarafor's work. Binti: Home is no exception. The world-building in these novellas astounds me. I'm in love with the vibrant way she effortlessly portrays different species, different tribes, and different worlds. Nnedi Okarafor is an excellent writer and deserves much more recognition than she receives, especially in widespread knowledge.

Binti: Home does just that - bring Binti home, where she becomes quickly disillusioned and has her perceived identity stripped from her. There is so much more nuance in the details, but it was a great story of wanting to honor who we were and cling to it while needing to look forward and become the person we were meant to be. There's also an excellent underlying theme about internalized prejudice.

I loved this book and read it quickly, with delight. I'm grateful there's still one more novella about Binti's life as a harmonizer. I wish there were more. I could read this forever.

It feels a bit incomplete, compared to the first one and it draws (poorly imo) on the first book's theme.  The world it creates is different from other sci-fi I've read so it's fun to daydream about space and other forms of life, I especially liked the concept of harmonizers.
