As LA’s hottest up-and-coming chef, Alexa Montoya is known for her ruby red lipstick, award-winning arroz con pollo and a penchant for falling for the wrong kind of men. And when a confrontation with a loser ex-boyfriend lands her in some legal trouble, she’s forced to call her long-time friend, Dante Perez, to bail her out. Only this time, Dante seems different, somehow. More gorgeous, more sexy, more…mouthwateringly irresistible. Suddenly she’s tempted to give the lawyer much more than a simple thank you…

Dante is tired of seeing Alexa with guys who only know how to steal her money and break her heart. He’s watched--and waited for--her long enough. Helping with her legal situation will finally give him a chance to win her over for good. His plan? He’ll seduce her into finally believing that there’s something deliciously right between them…

Despite their chemistry, Alexa can’t trust that Dante won’t leave. But Dante knows how to win a case. And he’ll do whatever it takes to convince Alexa that she’ll always leave him hungry for more…

I don't know where to start. This book was short for starters which doesn't bother me. It fit a lot of stuff in it for being such a short novel, however and this is where we get to the meat of the problem....there was so much DRAMA. OMG....the drama in this book made me feel like it was Days of Our Lives Cultural Edition. Maybe I'm being jaded and OTT but it just hit me the wrong way. The steamy scenes were steamy and well-written but the "drama queen and her king" needed a play so they could re-enact their dramaness (that's not a word) lol!! I know I'm being harsh but, Oh good gravy the things they argued about!! Let me stop before I totally have a mini cow in my office while I type. Anyhow, if you like drama, culture, more drama, angst, drama...this is your book!

I was given a copy of this ARC from the publisher on Netgalley for a honest review. All of the above comments are my express opinions and no one else's.

"Romantic relationships weren't like corporate mergers. You couldn't do a risk analysis or predict returns on the investment. Basically, love was more like a crapshoot. Sometimes you won big and something you lost it all."

The three books in this series were the ultimate comfort reads. Books about badass, smart and kind latinx people with dreams and goals, who will go through these intense and real journeys to get them. This book wasn't the exception to that. Apart from the fact that both of the main characters were extremely interesting and complex, they had incredible chemistry, they respected each other even if sexually, Dante was more dominant, he always put Alexa's care and feelings above all the other things and that's something I love seeing in these types of books because the "dominant" thing could go either way but Dante was a sweetheart. Sabrina Sol just has a brilliant way of constructing characters and making you care for them deeply. Not only for the romance but also for their lives that came before that, for the heritage and the stories that they bring to the present and what made them what they are today. This was such an adorable narrative because both of them were trying to realise what they really wanted and who they wanted to be. I liked Alexa's storyline the best because she was trying to change becase of people's criticisms but she just needed to realise that she can still have those characteristics and make responsible decisions too.

I adored that we got to see more of the latinx culture and food in this book. I felt like the second book lacked a little bit of that (maybe because none of the main characters were chef like in this one and the first one). Just because of my own experiences, I feel like whenever I read a book with latinx characters, I expect a lot of family and things that were passed through the generations and yes, we got that, but we also saw Dante's story as a kid who lived in the foster system but who also had that sense of family coming in other ways. His storyline and character development were so interesting to follow. There was a bit of what we had already seen in the first book though, of a deal of having sex but without a relationship and I just felt like we could have gotten something different in this one. That didn't make them less lovely though, I could see this book going in its own way that separated it from Amira and Eric's story.

There were only a few things I didn't like in this book and the first one was Alexa's best friends. I felt like they were there to further her plot but who didn't have any complexity of their own. Maybe I don't like them because one of them said "you should act like a man" and I hate those types of advice. I mean, I get what they mean. Act with that entitlement and privilege that men have and just sleep around without getting any feelings but at the same time, a woman can do that and that's not "acting like a man". Also, I feel like Daisy changed completely. She was presented as this guiding force with a lot of advice and wisdom and Yoda-like feeling and I just feel like that wasn't her in the previous book. Suddenly she's pregnant and she knows the answer to everything? Anyway, like I said I adored this book and this series and I just want to read more by Sabrina Sol because she has the ability to make me love every character she writes and I hope she keeps writing latinx stories because they are so necessary right now.
