I liked the style of writing, it was a quick read, the plot was good and fast paced and I loved the plot twist near the end. I liked the Charaecters and I thought that the main Character was realistic with the situation, It was very good

This was a good book, and quite a fast read. I enjoyed it :)

Whatever I do, I can never put down a Cat Clarke book unless I'm done with it. Literally read this in one sitting, started this book late last night, it's now 10:54 am, and nope, didn't sleep! I probably would have enjoyed this book even more (and would have even cried like everybody else at the end) if only I hadn't guessed the whole "plot twist" by page 100. But I loved it nevertheless! Would recommend this book to anyone. (only 4 stars because I didn't cry, too bad!) just try not to think too much, or else you might spoil yourself x)

I thoroughly enjoyed this book. Although I saw some plot twists coming, I loved how the author showed us the realness of Laurel coming home, how faith wasn’t so thrilled about it sometimes. I really enjoyed this read and surprisingly?, it left me a bit spooked.

What I will say about this book is that at least it doesn’t fall into the trap of victim blaming in the way that at one point I was afraid it was going to.

With that being said, though, I really didn’t like the way this book handled the topic of sexual abuse. If you’re going to write a survivor narrative, you need to give your survivor character a voice, not make them the sensationalised object of some Big Mystery Plot. It’s cheap and disrespectful to use abuse as some kind of story hook or shock tactic, and this book left a bad taste in my mouth.

That plot twist!! I read this in a day and it was wild.

I really enjoyed this one. It was not especially thrilling but I loved the writing and felt totally connected to the main character. She felt so real, with real emotions. The ending felt a bit rushed, was kind of obvious, and was a little bit unrealistic. I loved the book though.

I thought this was well written if a little juvenile in tone at times. I saw the twist coming (but I think you were supposed to) but not the twist after the twist. The ending was a little unbelievable but I enjoyed the story.

heartbreaking, I want to read it all over again and have a little cry

cat clarke is a genius, she's been one of my favourite authors for a long time, and this book might just be my favourite of hers
