Once again, I am loving this alien invasion series and how it just keeps developing. FINN focused on getting communication with other survivors in hopes of finding a global plan to stop the Gizzida. This brings Finn and Lia together as they search for a supersonic jet that can drop a receiver deep in the ocean. Action and adventure are a key part of this series and every time I pick up the next book I just want to read it in one sitting.

In typical pilot fashion, Finn is very confident but he's thankfully not so cocky that he gets annoyed. Not knowing if his family is still alive in Norway has made it hard for Finn to focus on a relationship. He's not really sure when his feelings for Lia shifted but Finn hopes that a one night stand can help him get over this attraction. I enjoyed reading about Finn and I appreciated that when he makes a mistake he admits it and tries to make it better. Lia herself is very confident in her skills and I loved watching these two butt heads. Losing her twin sister in the invasion devastated Lia and she's kept everyone at a distance ever since. Lia doesn't want to feel that pain again but after a night with Finn she can't keep her emotions locked down. These two had an uphill battle but I loved reading about it.

Sexy, and so unexpected!

I think this is my favorite book in the series so far. There’s so much action and unexpected twists, I felt like I was on my toes the entire time! Add in the super sexy scenes, and this book had it all!

High Flying Fun!

I absolutely adore the Bell Squad series and have been waiting for Finn for a long time now. Anna out did herself with Finn and reminded me how much I need each installment of this series. I can't wait for more. Lila and Finn are perfect!

Really love this series now, 10 books in and there are still so many stories I want to read. Finn and Lia were great together, I loved their early interactions and the plot thread of their mission was compelling and tense. And the bet was delightful, I find myself blushing just thinking about it. Looking forward to more of Squad Nine getting their time to shine!

Bickering MCs made a bet with each other, where she lost and they ended up having a no-strings night of hot sex. There're injuries, amnesia, fear of loss etc before these two got their act together. I did enjoy their romance, there's previous history which makes it less insta. They're both super competent, and matched up well. And there's good sexual chemistry, I especially like the role-play sex 😂

If you’re new to Hell Squad, I’d say start at the beginning, not here. If you’re not, this entry is pretty much what you’d expect: hot love scenes, excellent action movie sequences featuring cool monsters, good friendship moments, and tight plotting in a short novel. Hackett highlights the aviation aspects in Finn and throws plenty of danger Finn and Lia have to escape from.

Finn and Lia are empathetic characters with some baggage they have to deal with a hot rivalry that takes its eventual course to their involvement. There was a moment in the bet/challenge that leads to Finn’s and Lia’s initial encounter that weirded me out a bit, but everything’s consensual, even if sex is the stake. Thankfully Finn takes back his words, and there’s a twist in the end that made me look at it differently.

All Hell Squad books are short novels, so the characters are painted with broad strokes: believable and memorable, but if you want detailed character studies, read the author’s full length novels in the Phoenix Adventures series. I adore the world of Hell Squad, but I’ve hit the point in the series where I want to know a lot more about what’s up with the Gizzida and what our heroes can actually do about their predicament. We get a little bit further with some developments on the human end, but the evil dinosaurs remain as much a brutish enigma as they can be. I’m enjoying the ride, but I want to know what’s next and have some idea of how the series could end.

I received an ARC in exchange for an honest review. I'd say it's between three and four stars for me.

Finn Erickson spends his time flying Hell Squad into combat. His quadcopter is the only woman he needs, especially since she doesn’t argue with him like a certain drone pilot does. Lia Murphy lost everyone in the invasion and now refuses to get emotionally attached to anyone. Unfortunately, one cocky and arrogant pilot pushes all her buttons and makes her want more. When he issues a flight challenge with the prize being a night in his bed, she doesn’t know if she wants to win or lose.

The focus of this book is reestablishing communications with the other bases around the world. This brings Finn and Lia together as they search for a jet that will be able to drop an amplifier in the ocean. As with the rest of the series, this book was a nonstop action packed adventure filled with romance and, of course, lots of aliens.

Finn is a confident pilot who is used to being out on the front lines. His feelings for Lia have shifted and his idea of a one night stand doesn’t make them go away. Finn was a great hero and I really appreciated that he admitted his mistakes and tried to make things better. Lia is as confident as Finn in his piloting skills. I loved watching them butt heads and be snarky. It was so amusing.

Overall this was another action packed book for the series and I cannot wait to see what will happen next. Also I can’t wait to see what new kind of alien shows up.

Our favourite HAWK pilot gets his turn in the spotlight!

Finn loves to fly, the faster and harder the better. He lost contact with his family after the invasion and believes they are lost. He pours his heart into living for the present, no attachments and no broken hearts. But he may rethink this stance 'cos Lia, the drones lead pilot, gets under his skin like no one else.

Lia also knows lost. She lost her mother and sister in the invasion. Now alone in the world, she retreats from relationships. Finn is the biggest annoyance she has, he doesn't rate her drone flyers and takes every opportunity to wave his combat pilot past in her face. She flew supersonic aircraft before the invasion - she is not just a pretty face!

When intel surfaces of a factory run by the Gizzida, she and Finn are selected to head into hostile territory. What follows is a heart pumping, adrenaline filled ride through the skies! With a fantastically sexy and live for the moment scene in a former 5* hotel and some hotter than hot role play, these two put the fun back into their lives (and their beds).

I love this series so much and each new book becomes my favourite. Lia is strong, dependable and loyal to the core. Finn hides a sentimental soul and heart of gold (he's been adopted by an alien hatchling for cripes sake!) No spoilers for Scavamping is totally the next hottest thing!!! I do hope Devlin's story is next cos Ms Hackett has left him and Taylor in a REALLY sticky situation!
