The Miniscule Mansion of Myra Malone is a super-popular website about a miniature house (NOT a dollhouse, as Myra herself will be the first to tell you.) People all over the world are fascinated by the styling of the tiny rooms and the handmade furnishings that populate them. Myra, a recluse, writes and does photography while her best (and only) friend Gwen handles the site and the publicity. But Myra’s carefully controlled world is turned on his head when two things happen in rapid succession: first, her home and refuge is set to be auctioned off, and second, a man from across the country contacts her with a wild story: her miniscule mansion is a duplication of his actual home, right down to the furniture and the books in the library – and it looked that way before he ever laid eyes on her blog.

This novel is magical realism, which isn’t always my jam, but I really enjoyed the way it was done in this book. The magic fit in pretty seamlessly, in a way that didn’t feel jarring or cause disbelief the way some magical realism does to me. I do wish the romance had been a little more firmly developed, as it felt a bit rushed, but it was cute. Overall it’s a charming little book.

Representation: neurodivergent characters, characters with mental illness

CW: hoarding, agoraphobia, PTSD

I received an ARC of this ebook from Netgalley in exchange for an honest review.

Wonderful, unique story. Every chapter had me on the edge of my seat waiting to see where the story would go

There was something about how the genres mixed in this one that just felt super off to me. It felt like it was two books smash-cut together at times.

I received an ecopy of this book through Netgalley; however, my opinions are my own.
