I truly enjoyed all the characters in this book, but it felt stilted to me.
Althea starts with a smart mouth and develops into this regall, formal creature beyond her nature. Which is fine considering the role she plays! But the transition wasn't as smooth as it should be to be comfortable.
And I LOVE some smut, don't ever get me wrong, but the last hour of the book was just an excuse to have one on one sex with each of the guys and when there's 7 of them it takes too damn long! The book could've ended a 100 pages earlier and nothing would've been missing.
Also, not enough mm action. These men were together before she came along and that is not explored nearly enough.
I loved the plot. The story of the Judges and bringing order back to the vampyr race - it was heart reaking at times and beautiful in others.

So… I liked this plot and I enjoyed most of the characters. But there was just a bit too much smut. The last several chapters felt like after-thoughts to tie up any loose ends the author forgot about until the final draft. The smut became repetitive even before the half way point and while I skimmed it after 41% to make sure I didn’t miss anything important, I skipped most of the spice. I have a whole folder labeled FILTH in my Kindle because really don’t mind a lot of spice. But I’d prefer more quality over quantity in that area. Over all I would say I enjoyed the book. 3.75/5 ⭐️ from me
