The plot of this one is pretty thin but the family unit - at times dysfunctional and disorganized and at other times close knit and loving - takes center stage. Having been on two family cruises - one at age 12 and one at 19 - I totally understand how the close quarters of cruising can bring out both the best and worst in someone. An easy read that would be good for any vacation.

Cute story, excruciatingly bad writing.

I finished this book and said "eh."

It wasn't bad. It wasn't great. It was a quick read, but there wasn't much to it. The point of view swapped between the four couples (grandparents Annette and David, son Freddy and girlfriend Natasha, daughter Elise and husband Mitch and then their two kids, Rachel and Darius). None of these people were really likeable and all were harboring secrets. Predictably, all of their secrets come out and then the last part of the book deals with the aftermath.

I feel like this book could have been better if it focused on less characters. Rachel's story wasn't ever developed. Darius' focus was on writing one college application essay which was barely hinted at. I would have really liked to see more Annette and less Elise, but overall this was readable, but I wouldn't necessarily recommend it.

trying to live up to family expectations can be exhausting. And when the Feldmans are trapped on a cruise ship long buried secrets are exposed and the family dynamic is changed forever. A story of family, misunderstandings, and trying to live up to expectations.
Thanks to NetGalley and the publisher for providing an arc for my honest review

This is such a good family dramedy, just like The Last Summer at the Golden Hotel! I laughed super hard, cried, and generally fell in love with the Feldman-Connolly clan during this family-cruise-gone-wrong book. I highly recommend this if you're in a Type A Jewish family with lots of drama, I empathized highly with the book. I really love how Friedland is able to get inside the minds of so many different characters, it's her great talent! There wasn't one chapter from a different perspective that I didn't want to listen to :)

I really enjoyed this one! I didnt love it as much as I loved LAST SUMMER AT THE GOLDEN HOTEL but I really enjoyed it! I loved the family and being able to read all the different points of view, giving us a deeper understanding of the family. I loved the Jewish rep!

Comical family drama on the high seas! Annette decides to take her family on a cruise for her 70th birthday and gets more than she bargained for. Secrets are revealed, blows are exchanged and bonds are somehow still mended over the course of one eventful week. A fun and heart-warming read with exceptional character development.

This held my attention and I'm glad I read it. However, I don't agree with many of the reviews that describe this as hilarious...I didn't find much funny in this book, in fact, I found it/the situations rather sad.
