This book was the perfect mix of three things I love: mysteries, mockery, and Star Trek. After finishing Patrick Stewart's recent memoire, I went looking for memoires of other cast members to find Fan Fiction: A Mem-Noir. I wasn't totally sure what to expect, but the audiobook had one compelling feature: every Star Trek: The Next Generation cast member voices themselves in the book. I figured I'd be amused, and the book did not disappoint. I didn't expect some elements to be such parody, though now I'm not sure why. I can't say the plot itself was the most riveting, but I enjoyed the overall production of the audiobook and the narrative. The resolution was pretty satisfying, and true to the "noir" elements, even if a little bit silly. If you're a fan of TNG, this will probably be a fun read/listen. If not, it's probably not for you.

This was a fun listen, and I appreciated the cameo appearances by members of the Star Trek TNG cast. I'm not sure I would have enjoyed it as much in print. As a TNG fan, this was full of nerdy goodness, and frighteningly believable. A good insight into the darker side of fandom.
