I thought this book was decently well paced and I enjoyed a lot of the characters. The twist at the end was interesting but not in the way that will get me personally to continue this series. I’m just not a huge fan of the tropes I can tell are going to be in the next books so even though I enjoyed this book I’m marking it down a bit for the set up of the series as a whole.

I don’t love the whole MC has to choose between her family or some hot guy thing. It always end up with reading the MC’s POV just being her being wishy-washy about what she’s going to do cos she can’t please both sides blah blah blah. And I did start reading the next book and I returned it to the library before I even got 25% in because it was written exactly like I thought it would be. A little disappointing but I expect it from YA fantasy (which is why I rarely read it). Still super good concept though if you do like these tropes!
