The best thing about this anthology is the introduction by lynda Barry. She's eclectic and fascinating. The comics contained therein ran a gamut of oh-my-go-awesome to huh-that-was-neat to well-I-can't-even-finish-this. My favorites are "burden" which is an interesting twist on the good soon vs bad son genre and "it's all about Madeline" which made me question my concept of reality! Overall a good collection, not other best, but a good afternoon read.

if you like Barry's work, you will enjoy most of the comics collected; if not (like sean) there are a few.

I really enjoy this series, and Lynda Barry as guest editor is bonus. Gorgeously printed and every page is a gem. But my favorite thing about it (as with most anthologies) is discovering new favorites. This edition introduced me to "The Salon" by Nick Bertozzi, which I went out and bought as soon as I could. Now on to review THAT!!!

Lots of good stuff in these as usual. Makes me want to go hunt down authors and read a ton of comics.

I'm not 100% sure this is 5-star material--it does have a couple of duds in it, as any anthology will--but dude, it's an anthology of comics that features Alison Bechdel, Chris Ware, Gene Yang, and Seth, so as far as I'm concerned the rest of it could completely blow before I'd not find something to love in here.

I admit I skipped last year's, since I heard nothing but negatives about it. This year's, though? Excellent.

I have been reading these collections for the last three years and while none of have disappointed, the editorial slant on this one is not entirely to my tastes. That being said, I found a few true gems which have certainly led me to examine some previously unknown comic writers.

I like the guest editor; I don't like the series editors. Solid collection, but was annoyed that the comics were ordered by the authors' last names. I prefer it when the editors arrange a particular order, like a mix tape.

Unfortunately, not as good as the previous two editions. Kind of a disappointment, actually. Hopefully the next one will return to the level of quality of the first two.

This collection is stronger than most comics anthologies and is much better than last year's Best American Comics. Did you know that Linda Barry's all time favorite cartoonist is Bill Keane of Family Circus fame? True fact.
