Grady's family has moved to Florida for his dad's research project. The change isn't something Grady and his sister are too excited about it, but the possibility of exploring the swamp and the new dog that has shown up perk Grady right up. However, it seems Grady's beloved pet might be a killer as dead animals keep appearing in their yard.

This was a fun reread of a childhood favorite. The pacing was good, the characters were fun, and the plot was definitely there and kept you guessing. My only qualm is the whole evil older sister trope, but that was the 90s *shrug*.

When a strange howling is heard and a rabbit is torn to shreds, everyone thinks that Grady's new dog is responsible, and Grady is determined to prove them wrong.

I was very pleasantly surprised by this one. I actually quite enjoyed it, and I wasn't expecting that sort of ending. Well, I expected part of it, but not the unveiling. I don't know if I just wasn't paying attention to clues, but the unveiling actually shocked me. Stine's writing in this one was better than most, too. Which was nice.

I immediately disliked Emily after she opened her mouth about the dog that's in this book, but beyond that, I don't have much else to complain about. And me disliking Emily is a personal opinion that doesn't really reflect the rating.

This was my first Goosebumps as they came out long after my time. I would have devoured these as a kid. Fun read.

Good book for 3rd graders who enjoy scary stories.
