As of Eclipse, I like this book the most out of the Power of Three so far. I don't think it goes much deeper than the fact that I've always loved
flash flood scenes and supernatural elements, and this book combines those things into a really thrilling and fun final segment that I remembered fondly and looked forward to rereading.

I do wish Lionpaw and Heatherpaw's relationship was built up more. I think they could've had some deeper discussions that would've warranted the strong connection the narrative wants them to have. I still find it cute though, and sad when they have to break it up. I remember this plot point ruining me as a child. Hollypaw's friendship with Willowpaw being run as a parallel to these two brings up some queer readings that could be fun to dig into.

I really like Fallen Leaves. Again, I don't know if it goes much deeper than my thematic/aesthetic preferences, but his presence in the book is a plus. I love the caves as a setting; like I said in my Outcast review, I think these books excel at environmental descriptions, and the tunnels are so different from anything we've seen before, with the closest being Mothermouth in the old territories. Rock is also a really intriguing presence to me.

They did kind of make Leafpool go off the rails in this book. It's an issue with the arc in general, but she treats Jaypaw and Cinderpaw in ways that are kind of unacceptable. She also flip-flops between this book and Eclipse on whether or not she wants Cinderpaw to know about her past life. Even though she didn't have the most solid characterization before, it's not something that feels rights for her to me. I'm so sorry girl </3 It makes parts of the book hard to read, but overall I still really like it.
