I dnf'd about 35% in. The book was just too plodding, I didn't connect with the prose, and the pacing was off.

I really enjoyed reading this book. It felt rushed to me at the end though. I didnt like how long it was because I think it could've been shorter but I really enjoyed it. I liked around the end the most and showing christian beliefs. I wasnt to pleased with the ending because it felt me wanting more but it was good overall

The overall book was probably closer to 3 stars because of some squishy allegory that was also way too on the nose and the very long plot. But the climax was enough to bump it to four stars. I loved these characters SO much.

Initially, I was intrigued by the magical ability of a young girl to grant wishes with just one tear. Such a new concept in the fantasy world.

It's a great story and the characters were well-developed, but I was expecting something happier and not so dark. For me, fantasy is escapism. I like to be transported to a magical realm full of imagination and hope.

This was rather depressing.

Not only was this very fast paced, and intriguing; it fully immersed me into this world where talents, and wishes are more than a show and a genie in a bottle, baby.

Myrthe had the power to grant wishes through her tears, but unfortunately she is cursed and her final tear will be the end of her life as well. You go into the book already knowing this, but watching just how that unfolds had me tearing through the pages faster than Sven eating a carrot.
